Data Dictionary

The goal of the Data Dictionary is to provide all users of the Data Warehouse with information about the data contained therein. Information about the contents of the Data Warehouse can be retrieved to describe views, data contained within the views, key data items, Oracle Application sourcing, examples of data items and alias or commonly known names. Also defined in the Data Dictionary is report information including BUG reports, metamodels and published WSR/portal reports.

To better understand the information contained in the Data Warehouse is it important to understand the way data is organized and to know some of the common Data Warehouse terms. For users unfamiliar with the Data Warehouse it will be helpful to start with the Data Warehouse Common Terminology page before heading into the Data Dictionary. This will enable you to get a basic understanding of how the data is organized in the Data Warehouse and to understand some of the terms that you will see in the Data Dictionary.
